I think about it like how the parent acts while alive. Does the parent watch those things while alive? Then why would they watch that as a ghost? Just because they are 'watching over you' does not mean they are 'watching you non stop'. This is like how a parent can be 'watching over' their children when their children are playing outside in the yard and they are inside making dinner. They sense danger. They rush out. They see a threat. They jump into action. They get between the threat and their child. I think the guardian spirits of one's family or friends are like that.
